Play report essays example

Introduction

“ Man From Nebraska” is an American play by Chicago based writer and actor Tracy Letts. The plot brings the episode of a man expressing empty feelings experiencing crisis in the world of faith. In addition the epitome of the whole thing is not clearly expressed in the context that he is far from getting drama and the meaning of faith. The play directed by William Friedkin in the West Coast debut at South Coast contributes to making the play writing’s evocative languorousness and pretty Interesting. This is highlighted by the protagonist’s spiritual cravings which literally still come across as little more than a petty indulgence in the scenes.
The hilarious plot explains of ken Carpenter daily life’s encounters a church pew who visits a nursing home in a luxury Sedan only one day to wake up and discover that he no longer believes in God. This seems more dramatic in the prefectural view that expresses the most epic life’s encounter of a sudden changed life of an individual who suddenly changes one’s whole ideologies in a finch of time.
Further, the this crisis of faith propels the middle-aged man to effectively move in the direction that depicts an extraordinary journey rather epical of self discovery in a manner that seems more strange to many and to oneself in that view.
This wicked, funny and hilarious self-discovery in the spiritual journey highlights and clearly brings a rather complex nature of an individual who suddenly changes the ideologies in the direction that shows that he examines the effects of one’s awakening on both himself and his family in that view respectively.
The conflict that definitely arises is the view that ken’s wife Nancy is rather shocked and not comfortable about the whole issue. The physical conflict is clearly highlighted by the view of the sudden and abrupt change of ideologies of a man who on the previous day truly believed in the presence of God only to change in one morning. The conflict arises in the antagonistic view which definitely leads to his wife organizing a meeting with their pastor.
The marital conflict is also well illustrated by the view that Ken moves out of his home to visit London for a vacation. This does not literally moves on well with his wife who has a personal conflict with regards to the move that the husband has inculcated in their union leaving her alone with the children and the responsibilities that seems a bit more contradicting and heavy to her. This is has both a psychological trauma which is illustrated by her withdrawal from the scenes and clearly brings the view of loneliness.
In addition, the conflict is highlighted by Ashley keen’s daughter. This is in the view that she is not happy with the view that her father moves out and to a vacation alone leaving the family exposed and vulnerable which clearly highlights and brings out her misery. This leads to her suggesting to their instant divorce which she sees as the better solution. This makes her to definitely continue to mount pressure on her mother to implement the decision as the best to counteract the whole thing. In this view the family misunderstanding is clearly highlighted that is brought from the personal view watered down to reflect the various negative effects it poses in the whole relationships between the family members.
In relation to Ken’s mother’s declining mental and physical health, this poses a personal conflict which leads to the trauma that it causes him to be of the opinion that God has no meaning in his life that is why he prefers not to trust and worship him anymore. In this context, he proposes the view of moving out to his holiday in London.
On his way to London, the conflict in a personal view continues to manifests itself in form that he meets Pat. The woman definitely narrates her version of the tattered story which is somehow seems the same. She says that they divorced with her husband and says “ I get laid whenever I want” this is a translation of the view that she has an affair with anybody whenever she wants. This leads to a shared view of the miseries that both share in the context that brings that both were having conflicts in their lives.
The conflict is further enhanced when Pat comes visit ken by his hotel in London. This is in the context that brings the attraction between them and leads to a seduction towards having sex. This leads to kissing and in at their bed but definitely leads to ken coming back to his minds and remembers he has a family. Ken is actually reluctant about the issue which makes him withdraw from the whole thing.
The Director’s concept for a production gives the play a firmly and hyper-realistic scenes in a filmic texture, that depicts how Friedkin and set designer Christopher Barreca directs the play in between rolling wall that creates a very special role to the audience in the context that makes them participative and in a position that clearly helps them ride in a view that is positive and appealing to watch.
The framing of the scenes and rectangles in the play, the director captures the attention of the audience in a manner that highlights that they play a clear role driving the scenes of the play.
The director brings in the various transitions in the view that staging of the whole play is well planned and appealing to the many diverse viewers in the whole arena. This is because stage management is well planned scene after scene which leaves the viewers in suspense of what they should expect from the next episode.
My ideal and cast of the filmic attention created in the play and well directed in a manner that appeals and directly communicate a message to the rest of the audience the various themes and lessons, make me conclude that the cast is a masterpiece and recommends a more and more viewing again because of its interesting nature.
The Short analysis of two major characters’ including the Objects, Obstacle, and Stakes that are presented with regards to their roles in the film are ken and Nancy his wife. Ken depicts and character of optimism in what he does in the context that in his optimistic view, he focuses to move to London after a torment of her mother ailing condition. In addition while in London, he gets to reject the sexual advances of Pat his friend who also had family issues. The objects that are highlighted are the view that various obstacles are presented in his life which makes try change and pass the hurdles. This presents the view that the stakes are clearly set.
In addition, Nancy ken’s wife also illustrates the view of a forgiving character in which she accepts back her husband after moving for many weeks to London leaving her together with her kids to take care of. This brings the various objects in the play and clearly highlights her husband as an obstacle to achieving her common notion of helping her family achieve the happiness they desire.
The director has clearly brought out the set of scenes in a manner that depicts a well lighted stage and d in a view that helps to make the stage appealing. The near-noirish lighting of Lonnie Rafael Alcaraz brings the slice-of-life visuals combine. This is depicted by the actors’ stillness and consequently brings the ripe silence for haunting, yearning, highly emotional impact.
In the sets of sound by Lonnie Rafael Alcaraz it brings a sound form that is more liberating and directed to the highlighting of various themes in the play and clearly appealing to the various scenes that are highlighted by the play. Among them is in the bar in London. In addition, costumes used by the characters are appealing in ways that help communicate the theme of the play. The music is just amazing in the context that highlights the mood in the play of the various actors and scenes.
Another play, “ August Osage County by Tracy Letts”. Which belongs to the black comedy genre, that highlights the action that revolves around the Weston family who are definitely rather to confront their lives in a reality form that depicts both the past and present view.
In comparison to “ Man From Nebraska” the play brings a similarity in the view that the same way Beverly is a poet and has a drinking problem while his wife suffers from mouth cancer, same is Ken is having troubles in his family which makes him move out of the house to London.
This brings about the view that it influences the direction and design which leads me to the choices of these plays. The two films are related in the context that it highlights that both characters are faced with troubling life’s issues.
In conclusion the two plays highlight the master piece in the modern form of art that depicts how various issues are communicated in the plays.
