Originally, “ suffragette” was an offensive term for members of the women’s suffrage in the United Kingdom. Later, female members of the movement were called “ suffragettes” without negative meaning. So, suffragette is a female, who supports the women’s right to vote.

Alice Paul was an American suffragist and activist as well as Lucy Burns.
