Other options instead of abortion BY idfeltnooo Topic: Choosing adoption instead of abortion Purpose: To inform my audience about the many options there is instead of abortion. Introduction: Abortions kills as many Americans daily as the tragedy of 9/1 1 . Every single year, abortion kills the same number of Americans as have been killed on all the battlefields in all of the wars in U. S. history combined. Central Idea: There are options, there are millions of childless couples who do not have the honor of knowing what it feels like to be parents and would give a child a loving stable home.
BODY . First Main Point: More than one million Babies die each year because of abortions. More than 50 million have died since 1973. A. Sub point: 1 in six couples are infertile. 1. 36 couples for every 1 baby adopted. B. Sub point: 86% of abortions are done for convenience. 1. By age 45, 1 out of every 2. 5 women in the United States has had at least one abortion! C. Subpoint: The average abortion is done in the second and third month of pregnancy. 1 . By the third week the eyes and the spinal cord are visible and the brain has 2 lobes.
II. Second Main Point What is the risk of having an abortion. Sub Point A: Legal abortion is reported as the fifth leading cause of maternal death in the United States, though most of them are not reported as such. Sub Point B: For women aborting a first pregnancy, the risk of breast cancer almost doubles after a first-trimester abortion and is multiplied with two or more abortion. 1 . Women with one abortion face a 2. 3 relative risk of cervical cancer, compared to non-aborted women, and women with two or more abortions face a 4. 2 relative risk Sub Point C: 10% of women undergoing elective abortion will suffer immediate omplications, ot which 2 percent are considered lite threatening. The most common major complications which most often occur at the time of an abortion are: infection, excessive bleeding, and embolism, ripping of the uterus, anesthesia complications, convulsions, hemorrhage, cervical injury, and endotoxin shock. Common “ minor” complications include: infection, bleeding, fever, second degree burns, chronic abdominal pain, and vomiting. 1 . Increased risk for teenagers who account for 30 percent of abortions. 2.
Abortion is significantly linked to behavioral changes such as promiscuity, smoking, rug abuse, and eating disorders which all contribute to increased risks of health problems. Ill. Third Main Point: Emotional effects of abortion. Sub Point A. There are many consequences from abortion and one of the saddest is the emotional consequences. Women that have abortions will most likely suffer from one or more of these. Regret Anger Guilty feelings Shame Sense of loneliness or isolation Loss of self confidence Insomnia or nightmares Relationship issues Suicidal thoughts and feelings Eating disorders Depression Anxiety 1 .
Women who have had an abortion are at much higher risk for mental health disorders. These include anxiety, depression, drug and alcohol abuse and suicidal behavior which are shown to increase 155% after an abortion. Sub Point B: approximately 45% of all abortions are repeats. Many people say a fetus is a mass of cells not deserving to be called a life. I ask you to as yourself how a mass of cells at Just 3 weeks can have a partially developed brain. There are millions of childless couples that would give anything to be able to have a child. They are willing to pay for doctor’s visits and give the birth mother emotional and financial support.
