1. 3 Organizational Analysis of TheCakes&Bakes There were 10 majordepartments in Cakes&Bakes, which are; · Production&Planning Department· Process Improvement Department· Quality&Control Department· Information Technology Department (IT)· Product Development· Human Resources· Accounting & Finance Department· Data processing Department· Logistics Department The organizational chart of the company , see Appendix 2.
I want to introduce the departments inCakes&Bakes; which are observed and experienced closely. 1. 3. 1 Production&Planning Department I had a chance to observe their works. There were 6engineers, 1 industrial engineer, and 5 food engineers. I observed using theProduction&Planning function in the ERP System at the department. Thedepartment requires forecasting, analyzing, optimization and decision-makingskills. I could see that they organize the production schedules, check the rawmaterials and optimize the utility of the production process.
1. 3. 2 Process Improvement Department My internshipoccurred at Process Improvement Department. There were two industrial engineer, a manager and a manager assistant.
The department providesrecognizing&solving engineering problems and developing the ERP Sytem. Thedepartment requires Industrial Engineering skills. Excel automation, VBA code, and macros, beingable to provide applicable solutions to operational problems, projectmanagement skills, improvement a decision, being open-minded on using newmethods and systems. 1.
3. 3Quality&Control Department Especially the food engineers work in thedepartment, and they work shifts, so they work 7/24. The department provides thedesired quality standards.
They work on determining the manufacturing processfor each product.
