One of the most popular tourist sites in the world has to be Dubai. Dubai city has grown to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world graced by amazing architecture, top of the class hotels, world renowned festivals and sporting activities, amazing views of the most amazing man made features the world has to offer. Dubai City has stood against the odds stacked against it to be one of the most thriving cities despite the harsh climatic environment. Perhaps the most amazing feature of this city is the Palm Springs Island and the remake of the world map as a cluster of islands.
Palm Islands are the most amazing man made features in modern history of mankind. They are a set of three islands off the coast of Dubai, islands so big they are all visible from space. The islands are considered the Eighth Wonder of the World and attract millions of people yearly. So what makes these islands so special?
Well for one, the island is made up of three small islands; Palm Jumeirah, Palm Deira and Palm Jebel Ali. These islands take different shapes and are different in sizes. Palm Deira, for example, is the largest man-made island of the three islands. Its construction started in 2004 and is expected to be completed in 2015. At the end of the construction of the island, a billion cubic meters of sand and rock will have been used to construct the island. It will house some of the most prestigious seven start hotels, shopping malls, villas, residential areas and other social amenities. This island is located along the Deira coast (Dubai City, 2009).
The smallest island of the three is Palm Jumeira. It takes the shape of a palm tree and has a trunk with a 17-frond crown. Its construction started in 2002 and was complete by 2006. The island is surrounded by a crescent island outside the tree shape island that acts as a water break from the vicious waves of the ocean surrounding it. This island houses some 25 internationally renowned hotels among them Burj Al Arab, the most luxurious hotel in the world (Five Star Alliance, 2013). This hotel is designed in the shape of a ship’s sail that is billowing in the strong winds of the sea. The blue-windowed hotel is one of the outstanding architectural sites on the islands that make this city a very popular hotel destination (Dubai City, 2009).
The middle size island, Palm Jebel Ali has the same shape as that of Palm Jumeira but is twice as big. Its construction started in October 2002 and was completed in mid 2008. It was created to act as an entertainment destination for both children and adults who are offered the services in the six marinas, water homes, a Sea village and water theme park. The island also houses one of the most beautiful buildings, The Palm Springs, which house apartments with either the beautiful sea or waterscape views (Dubai City, 2009).
The Palm Islands are not the only islands that make the city a tourist destination. The World Islands are also beautiful phenomena that make this a tourist destination. Consisting of 300 private islands, the islands house different projects; private homes, estate areas, community islands and resorts. Designing islands in the shape of the continents of the world, this project was a big milestone that the sheikh of Dubai achieved (Private Islands Online, 2013).
However, these are not the only attractions of this city. Dubai is located in United Arab Emirates, a country in the Middle East. The Middle East is a big desert and temperatures sometimes exceed 100 ̊ F. with these kinds of temperatures one would wonder how people survive in such harsh environments. That is the reason why people visit to see the various amenities that shield the citizens of Dubai from these harsh conditions. Engineers have come up with amazing architectural designs that help the buildings they build have cooling systems dependent on the very designs they create (Gwyn, 2013).
We cannot forget the beautiful festivals that Dubai plays a host to. Dubai has proved that it provides the perfect sport for sports such as desert racing and also such exhibitions as the Abu Dhabi Film Festival have attracted millions of tourists from all over the world for these auspicious events. Dubai International Motor Show has seen some of the richest people in the world bring their famed collection of cars in this event (Department of Tourism, 2013).
Perharps the most intriguing aspect of Dubai is the architectural beauty. Dubai has some of the most beautiful buildings. One such is the famous five-star hotel Burj Al Arab. This hotel located on Palm Jumeira offers some of the best services and has views that are considered the best views. The tallest sky scraper, Burj Khalifa, is said to host over 35, 000 people and has one of the most complex cooling systems in the world. Dubai also has the tallest residential building, the Princes Building which has 100 floors (Gwyn, 2013).
When in Dubai, the one place you would not want to miss visiting is the Dubai Mall which is said to be the biggest mall on the planet covering a staggering 12. 1 million square feet area. Opened in 2008, the mall is part of the amazing Burj Khalifa towers and has over 600 stores within plus a number of restaurants and other entertainment spots. The mall has an Olympic-size ice skating arena, a movie theatre with 22 movie screens, dining cafes and restaurants such as Burj Al Hamam, and Al Forno. This mall has all that you would need and a good stop shopping experience for all. Forget about the price, when in Dubai, you have all the price ranges that fit your pocket so go out there and have fun (Willet, 2013), (Dubai Mall, 2012).

Despite the odds that face this city, Dubai has come out every time and has crushed the doubts in everyone’s faces. The leaders of Dubai have put it in their minds that they have to make the city one of a kind and are fully dedicated to creating the best of facilities in the city. They spare no costs in hiring some of the greatest minds in to come up with the amazing ideas that are put in reality in the end. Dubai is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and has all the resources to make it a top tourist attraction and we cannot argue that it will not continue to grow.
