The effort by the University of Washington to create a community of students richly diverse in cultural backgrounds, experiences, and viewpoints is a defining feature of my desire to study there. Raised in Indonesia and having lived in Singapore I have been consistently exposed to new and compelling individuals. My early life provided a rich tapestry of cultural lessons that have served to pique my interest in learning and being a part of the larger international community.
Beginning with a reflection of my existing strengths and weaknesses, I firmly believe that my outlook, drive and emphasis on empathy for my fellows create the opportunity to make substantial achievements at the University of Washington. My goal is to enhance my personal experience in order to gain an insight into my field of study, thereby allowing me the opportunity to assist others. Using my inherent ability to communicate, listen and develop solutions, it is my hope that my efforts benefit those around me as well as provide me with a solid educational foundation. In the long term, I have driven towards finding a method in my professional practice that allows me to incorporate the multi-tiered cultural approach that is needed in the world.
In the end, it is my goal to not only be accepted at a quality school such as the University of Washington, but to participate in the culture and social infrastructure that the region offers throughout the Pacific Northwest. With so very many paths to choose, I am working to find the very best opportunities for education that develop my potential, thereby allowing me the opportunity to build and attain my dreams.
