Academic Achievements is the outcome of education. It is the extent to which a student, teacher or institution has achieved their educational goals. Academic achievements are important in a student’s life, it is the one that tells that you really learned a lot on your education but there’s a lot of things that could affect it. One of the things that could affect it is peer pressure. Peer Pressure is defined as the influence that peer groups exert that encourages others to change their attitudes, or behaviours to conform to the groups norm. Most educators believe that peer pressure can affects a student’s academic achievements.
Many studies have been conducted to prove this belief. They learn from peers how to cooperate and socialize according to group norms and group-sanctioned modes of behavior. The peer group can influence what the child values, knows, wears, eats, and learns. The extent of this influence, however, depends on other situational constraints, such as the age and personality of children and the nature of the group, I want to conduct this study because many students now a days experience peer pressure and it’s one of the common problems a student may have.
I want to be able to know the effects of peer pressure on the academic achievements of 3rd yr-4th yr high school students in English. I chose English as the subject of my study because it is one of the major subjects. I also chose 3rd yr- 4th yr High school students as my population because junior and senior high school students are the oldest in the basic ed and since they are older they have a lot of experience on the so called peer pressure.
