Violent Crime in Newark, New Jersey
Crime has been in existence since the commencement of the universe; even primitive communities have been known to have one or two criminals that are involved in crime. This issue has often been taken with seriousness it deserves only when the statistics are seen to be rising. This habit needs to stop and there is a need to take care of the problem of crime even when the crime rates are low. In fact, it is often said that prevention is better than cure and consequently, there is a need to defend the community despite crime rates being either high or low. In the United States, violent crimes are often referred to some of the most serious criminal offenses that a person can be charged with and consequently they often carry the heaviest penalties. There are only a few types in the U. S that are categorized under violent crimes; they include murder, robbery, assault, and homicide.
The statistics above are nothing but shocking, they show the extent of violent crime in Newark in New Jersey. Although the population has been decreasing the violent crime has been increasing. In the year 2006, there were around 105 murders in a population of around 280, 000 people! This shows the extent of the crime problem. The level of violent crime in Newark does not change a lot; this therefore, means that the law enforcement are not doing the best jobs as they are required to. This is because the violent felony rate in Newark in the city of Jersey does decrease by any substantial level. It can be seen that the entry of the Booker into office has done nothing to change the statistics.
