Training needs of day care workers essay

The main purpose of the study was to identify the training needs of daycare workers in CSWD, Ozamiz City. It gathered information on the profile of the day care workers in terms of age, educational attainment and length of service, trainings attended, and training needs of day care workers in terms of pre I school/day care programs, maintaining workplace safety, performing administrative function, technical skills, communication, and professionalism, significant difference between the day care workers’ profile in terms of age, educational attainment, course taken, training attended, length of service and their training needs. The test of significant difference focused on the day care workers’ profile in terms of age, educational attainment, course taken, training attended, length of service and their training needs when grouped according to profile.

The descriptive method of research was utilized in this study and the questionnaire was used as the tool in gathering the data and information needed in this investigation. The respondents of this study were the day care workers under the CSWD in Ozamiz City. The data were treated using frequency and percentage, weighted mean and the chi-square to determine the significant difference in the training needs of the day care workers when grouped according to profile. Findings The following are the findings of the study: 1.

Profile of the Day Care Workers 1. 1 Majority of the day care workers are 30 years and above. 1. 2 The educational attainments of respondents are mostly in college level. 1. 3 Most of the respondents are in 0-5 years in service. . Training Needs of the Day Care Workers The training needs of the daycare workers in terms of pre-school/day care programs is mostly needed; maintaining workplace safety is needed; performing administrative function is needed; technical skills is somewhat needed; communication is mostly less needed; and in professionalism all the variables are less needed.

2. Significant difference between the training needs of daycare workers when grouped according to profile. 1. There is no significant difference between the respondents’ age and training needs in terms of maintaining workplace safety, technical skills, communication 1. 2 There is significant difference between the respondents’ age and training needs in terms of pre-school/day care programs, performing administrative function, and professionalism. 1. 3 No significant difference is seen between the training needs of the day care workers when grouped according to educational attainment.

. 4 There is no significant difference in the training needs of the day care workers when grouped according to course taken. 1. 5 No significant difference is apparent between the training needs of the day care workers when grouped according to trainings attended. 1. 6 There is no significant difference between the training needs of the respondents when grouped according to length of service. Conclusions Based on the findings of the study, the following conclusions are drawn: 1. Majority of the day care workers are 30 years old and above who were college level and teaches in day care centers for 0-5 years.

2. Most of the items in the training needs of the day care workers were needed and less needed. 3. The variables on age, educational attainment, trainings attended and length of service of the respondents play insignificant role in the training needs of the day care workers. Recommendations Based on the findings and conclusions of this study, a number of recommendations are proposed: 1. The administration should also conduct monitoring and evaluation on the performance of the day care workers to identify the training needs needed by the day care workers to improve their performance.

2. The City Social Welfare Office should conduct series of seminar – workshops and in- service trainings relevant to the needs of the day care workers in order to enhance the capability of the day care workers in their field of work. 3.

The day care workers themselves should religiously assess themselves on their needed trainings and apply the knowledge they gained from the seminar-workshops they have attended.
