Online education vs traditional education

ven though some students may do better hearing a lecture rather than reading one, online schooling is becoming more popular because of flexibility, saves on money, and communication is easier. More and more people are turning to online classes these days because of their busy schedules. When you have a growing family you need to be able to support them, In order to support them you need to have a lob. In today’s world you need to have a college degree in order to make what they call “ the big bucks.

” How can you get a college degree though in between having a ull time Job and raising a family? This is where online classes come in handy. Time is a big issue when you are trying to decide if whether taking online classes is the way to go or not. Extra time Is hard to come by these days, especially when trying to raise a family, going out and working a full time Job, and having a social life with friends. If a person happens to not work a full time job then the a traditional on campus school might work for them; but for someone who does have a full time Job, online classes would better suit their needs because they have the power to make heir own hours.

When you are able to devote whatever time that works best for you, you will not have that feeling of being rushed like you are with everything else going on In your life and your chances of succeeding are much more likely. A person can do their homework either at night while the family Is asleep, during a break or a lunch break at work, or even on the weekends when people tend to have more time on their hands. When you do not have to drive back and forth to campus, you are not wasting your time by sitting in the car; also there is no having to drive to the library to get any ooks that you would want to read in order to study. Instead your online school has an online library right there at your finger tips. On the other side of things, online courses can be very time consuming because unlike traditional universities, you do not get as many breaks. Breaks as In summer break, Christmas break, or spring break, instead you will more than likely on get a Christmas break.

On the bright side of things, you do not have to sit in a classroom and waste hours listening to lectures and it only takes an hour or so to post in the discussion boards. Money Is and always be an Issue for most people. When taking classes online you will still be able to still work your normal Monday through Friday Job or however your full time job is laid out. If you go to school on a traditional campus it may be harder for you to find time to squeeze in that full time Job, resulting in you only maybe being able to work a part time Job and making less money. Also when taking classes online you do not have to go anywhere to do your assignments or post in the discussion boards.

This means that none of your hard earned money will have to go towards gas o get you to and from school, go towards paying a parking meter, or having to buy school lunches, and not having to spend unnecessarily on textbooks. When taking online courses none of your money will be going towards room and board like it would be if going to a traditional campus when usually you would have to live in the dorms at least your first year attending. Traditional colleges will usually end up tacking on fees such as lab fees or equipment fees, online courses do not have those types of fees; although some online schools do charge a technology fee. The cost for redits for online classes is generally much cheaper than credits in a traditional school setting. Communication is always something you should consider when figuring out the best way for you to learn. For online classes everything is off the internet, which means you are in charge of making your own notes from the things you read on your own.

You will be reading e-books rather than paper textbooks. The interaction you have with other students is all through the internet, same goes with your professors. Some people may find this helpful when deciding to do online courses or not ecause some people are shy and they may rather feel more comfortable will sharing their ideas, thoughts, and questions online. You are not getting the personal interaction as you would if you are going to school on campus though, which on the other hand is a good quality to have when you need to have good communication in order to succeed in the working world. Online discussion boards can be harder to understand and sometimes things get misunderstood and taken the wrong way. That is why is important to go back and re-read things and to ask questions so that you etter understand.

This is where a traditional campus may be best for you if you are one who does best with face-to-face communication. You are able to get better one- on-one interaction with your professors though because you can e-mail them through your individual forum and get a timely response. In a traditional class you may not be able to always get the chance to talk directly to your professor every time you have a question because of every other student in that class. In conclusion, although some students do better hearing a lecture rather than eading one, online schooling is more flexible because you have the ability to do your assignments on your own time. It can also save you money in the long run because online classes are generally cheaper and you do not have to worry about putting gas in your tank for driving back and forth.

The communication can be easier for some people because they may feel like they will get better one-on-one conversations and they will never have to stand up in front of a classroom full of people to ask what they make think is a stupid questions; even though there is no such thing as a stupid question.
