It’s obvious that the dogs coming to a rehab centre may be undergoing through some sort of stress. If the place they are in pleasant and enjoyable, they will get adjusted faster.

A centre that cares for the dogs should also have a concern towards the environment. The quality of a rehab centre is to be inappropriate- the extent of cleaning that happens is too much. Dogs make noise. Usage of water for cleaning is also much. If most of this is taken care of and the building is welcoming and pets are taken care properly it will obviously attract the public and get people together.

Problems faced in few rehab centres are- 1. Lack of natural daylight 2. Lack of noise control 3.

Poor ventilation 4. Small cages 5. Unclean surfaces 6. Boring spaces for animals, this leads to behaviour problems The above issues are not taken care in most of the rehab centres hence proper planning and Design is required. This will reassure enhancement in the lifestyle of dogs. Aim:- 1) To rescue abandoned pets from the vagaries of the streets and give them a home. 2) Helping injured animals recover by giving them proper care and concern3) Helping them to rehabilitate from the horrors of the unforgiving streets. 4) Training dogs: – which may help in providing therapies to humans.

5) To promote animal welfare and interaction with humansSite:- Mysore- also called “ The Heritage City” is Karnataka’s third populated city. It is located at the foothills of Chamundi. The Wodeyars of Mysore are the only Indian Royal family in the history to have ruled a kingdom for more than 500 years (1399 and 1947). Mysore is one of the first cities of Asia to undertake planned development of the city. Mysore also holds the pride of having the oldest zoos of India with 168 species. Mysore has always given a greater amount of importance to the wildlife.

The Zoo Authority of Karnataka (ZAK) have proposed a rehabilitation centre for the wild animals named The Chamundi Animal Reservation And rehabilitation Centre which homes wild species. It is the second wildlife rescue centre in the state after the one in Banerghatta National Park. Though there has always been an annoyance that has been expressed about the stray dogs by the public, The Government has not given much importance to it.

There is only one non profitable dog shelter in Mysore which is also full most of the times and cant intake more pets. There are many pets that are in need of a loving space and hence the site is chosen here.
