Protection of personal information in the present technological era, where sharing and distributing information is very common creates a concern for organizations and individuals for data privacy. In Information Technology (IT), Data privacy or Information privacy is related to the capability of an organization that allows to regulate the type of data in a computer system that can be distributed with third-parties. Apart from the Internet, the Networks also exchange information including personal data at a rapid rate. Data privacy is a business problem and the entire organization must solve the security issues through self strategic drivers, and not rely completely on technical aspects to alleviate specific attacks.
The requirements for organization security must be derived from the System Security Management maturity models including its concepts of transparency, partitioning, separation, rotation and supervision of responsibilities . Apart from the wired networks, data security is also a critical aspect in wireless and cellular communications. As data communicates in an unsecured path, for example, data flows through specific pathways in internet, it is necessary to use cryptographic protocols to enable secured communication using authentication, confidentiality, integrity, and nonrepudiation. Information system security is also dependent on logical security, physical security, and premise security to safeguard data .
Asia-Pacific countries and European countries have all-inclusive laws approved for data collection, data aggregation and use of collected data; however, the laws in United States combine the laws that respond to particular situations rather than a comprehensive privacy strategy. Though there are laws for Data Privacy, users cannot depend on these laws to protect their privacy, and it becomes a responsibility of the law makers in authority to provide mechanisms that allow users to improve data protection. Data Privacy Day (DPD) is also celebrated once a year on January 28, as a global effort to Respect Privacy, Safeguard Data and Enable Trust.
