Introduction

We have to ask ourselves whether man was an accidental creation of a system that actually did not have him in mind as has been suggested by several scientists or whether he was specially created “ in the image of God” (Genesis 1: 26)? We may not have the true answer to these questions but what we are sure of is the fact that both these statements cannot be correct. The doctrine of evolution has been defended by many scientists for example Thomas H. Huxley said “ The doctrine of Evolution, therefore, does not even come into contact with Theism, considered as a philosophical doctrine. That with which it does collide, and with which it is absolutely inconsistent, is the conception of creation, which theological speculators have based upon the history narrated in the opening of the book of Genesis” (as quoted in Darwin, 1898, 1: 556). But from God’s teachings in the Bible we find out that it is not possible to stand with God and still embrace other opposing theories. It is either you are with God or you are not. The issues in religion and evolution are sharply divided that there can be no compromise about being a Christian or being an evolutionist. You are either a believer in the word of God or you are an evolutionist, there is no middle ground on it. With these opposing sides many have chosen to believe either side driving a wedge between those who believe in evolution and those who believe in religion. It is very difficult to bring these set of believers together to make them stand with one thing.

Why people believe in Evolution more than Religion
Religion over the years has faced the opposition from evolution which has been propagating theories that contradict those we see in most forms of religions. Christianity which is the largest form of religion has been mostly affected with the theory of evolution with most people embracing the theory based on the scientific evidence that has made many to believe that all human beings evolved from apes and were not created by God as is written in the Bible. Evolution over the years has been made to look cooler than religion with most people advocating for it ranging from politics to humanities to arts and other fields that has come out to defend evolution arguing it a fact and true and making religion look like a fake. The fact that science supports evolution 100 percent has also made it easier for people to believe evolution than they do religion. It is much easier to embrace evolution than it is to embrace Christianity and this makes many people to prefer evolution.
Another reason that can explain why many people have decided to embrace evolution at the expense of religion is the fact that most of these people are actually people who have rejected God. These people who do not believe they were created by God find evolution more appealing and their belief in evolution is based on their hatred for God. The other reason may be because of the evil and suffering that is being experienced in the world today making most people to question the existence of God. This makes it very hard for most people to believe the existence of God and thus more and more people believe that man and all other living things evolved from an inorganic form to be what they are today. They also believe that the earth did not result from a creation but the earth formed naturally from natural causes same as the sun and all that is present in the universe.
