The Earth, our one and only home in the universe, is steadily being destroyed by the very people that inhabit it with the release of thousands of tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, which leads to climate change. Climate change can have disastrous effects on the environment, such as rising sea levels, higher temperatures and the extinction of entire species, all of which will negatively impact everything on planet Earth, including humans.
So, what can we do to stop climate change? There are a number of things we can do to slow down the heating up of the Earth, such as switching from fossil fuels to alternative energy sources. Fossil fuels release carbon dioxide, a major greenhouse gas, contributing to global warming. Alternative energy sources, such as wind and solar, do not use fossil fuels in the creation of energy and thus do not harm the environment. Another thing we can do to protect the Earth is to stop deforestation. Deforestation is the cutting down of trees to make room for human needs, such as farming and mining. Deforestation releases carbon dioxide when trees that have carbon stored in them are cut down ; the carbon is released into the atmosphere, contributing to climate change. There are many things we can do to save the Earth and all of us must do our part to protect our one and only home.
