The main reason for the eviction is because National City is known to be one of the cities that have the highest asthma rates in San Diego County, which the coalition attributes to the fact that pollutants producing industrial businesses are intermingled with homes, schools, and parks. Therefore, the Environmental Health Coalition and several parents of Kimball Elementary School students want the city to eliminate polluters near the school immediately. The City Council has pass a law known as an Amortization Ordinance to provide for the removal of businesses that do not conform with new zoning codes. Now the city begins the difficult task of prioritizing which businesses to eliminate first, and how. This latest report features a ranked list of 145 businesses that no longer conform to approve land uses in National City. It is causing a lot of issues in today’s society. Even as until today the government is finding ways and means to limit the amount of pollution various people and factories are causing to the environment. Flashing back on the article, National City is trying to eliminate pollution by limiting the amount of businesses they have in their city. Basically, it is a good idea because the city already has the highest rate of asthma through pollution therefore, if these businesses are not terminated then the rate of asthma will keep increasing. There may even be other diseases that will be discovered later on if these businesses keep polluting the city. That may lead to different consequences to the neighbors. However, their plan is a fact and something that should be thought of since it deals with pollution, and in favor of the health of the people.
